Chateau La Conseillante 2007
90% merlot and 10% cabernet franc) Bright medium red-ruby. Aromas of raspberry, black cherry, flowers, licorice and spices, lifted by pepper and fresh herbs; cellarmaster Arguti describes the wine as "very Pomerol" but it also struck me as rather Burgundian. Juicy, aromatic, slightly dry-edged black fruit and licorice flavors show red berries and pepper with aeration. A very fresh and vivid style, without quite the structure of the 2006. But this is elegant and pure.
